Rosalind Tegolin Knowland
Rosalind trained at London’s Central School of Speech and Drama (B.A. Hons) and The Drama Studio (Post Graduate) where she received Hillman Best Actress Award. Before moving to Ireland she performed numerous roles in England. She worked for three years with the Age Exchange Theatre Company specialising in Reminiscence Theatre, touring extensively throughout England, bringing theatre to hospitals, old people’s homes, day centres and schools.

When she moved to Ireland, Rosalind acted with the Druid Theatre Company (The Shaughraun), and then founded with Seán Coyne the Hob Nailed Boots Theatre Company, which has staged many productions including The Pot of Broth (Yeats), The Shadow of the Glen (Synge), A Pound on Demand (O’Casey), Waking Up (Dario Fo), Bogs Saints and All That (Anne Norrington), which was a play commissioned by Connemara National Park and I’m Off (Anne Norrington), a play about emigration which toured to the Oxford Irish Festival.
More recently, the company has performed plays specially commissioned by establishments in North West Connemara. Gogarty’s House  (the story of Renvyle House Hotel), From Castle to Abbey (the story of Kylemore Abbey), The Stations, The Donkey, Images of Ireland and Gone with the Fairies are all written and directed by Barbara Knowland.

Rosalind simultaneously founded a sister company Tegolin’s Tales specialising in Masked Fairy Tale Drama for Children. Click here for a list of plays performed by Tegolin’s Tales. These have been toured extensively throughout England and Ireland, playing in many festivals including the Cuirt Literary Festival, Sligo Arts Festival, Westport Arts Festival, Clifden Arts Festival, Aisling Arts Festival, Belfast Arts Festival, Listowal Writers Week and many more. She has also performed for Amnesty International and UNICEF.

Rosalind teaches drama in 10 schools in North-West Connemara and is Speech and Drama tutor at Kylemore Abbey for Victoria College London. She also runs summer camps in Art & Drama. She is a member of the Actors Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in Britain and Ireland.
